Things go in cycles. Business cycles, women’s skirt lengths, hair styles, etc. All these things are cyclical. Apparently so are the styles of wine. Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s wines were pretty huge. Especially wines from California. There was a “monster zin” fad going on. A lot of Zinfandel – way too much of it – was rough, tannic, inky black stuff, lurking innocently in the glass, just waiting for you, the unwary taster. Then before you knew it, all the enamel was gone from your teeth.
